Winter’s Reach

Heat vanished, Winter awakened
It swept the land with its greedy paws
Winter-consumed peaks,

No plants, No animals, no life
Humans died, some survived
Fire! They screamed.

Bonfire, their last line of defense
Fortified by heat, they lived on
The cold took everything else.

No fear, no malice
No enemies to dread
No predators to fight

In the face of the cold –
Winter was their sole enemy.
